I was drawn by the concept of the visual representations made by ECGs recording some of the most important moments in our lives from the first signs of life through to the flat line after death.
I had been working with encaustic for a while and as I explored this idea, the process of abrading the surface line seemed to mirror the erosion and fragmentation of the lifeline itself over time, encompassing reflection, the fading and loss of memory, identity and mortality.
